Laser Skin Resurfacing & IPL

We specialize in laser skin resurfacing and laser skin tightening for Buffalo and Williamsville, NY, patients who want a nonsurgical skin renewal option. Using powerful laser and light energy, our laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) devices can give your skin back its healthy glow. In our adept hands, we can reduce your most bothersome symptoms for lasting results.

How Do Laser Skin Treatments Work?

Laser skin treatments work to tighten and improve skin by delivering powerful light-based energy deep within the skin. The heat created by this energy causes the tissues and supportive structures to tighten and contract, resulting in improved tone. When used for resurfacing, laser energy dissolves the outermost layers of skin, revealing fresh, smooth skin beneath.

Laser treatments are most often performed on the face, neck, and chest, but some patients can also get laser skin tightening on the stomach at our Buffalo-area practice. We also offer laser hair removal for lasting smoothness.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

During a skin resurfacing treatment, the laser delivers short, concentrated pulsating beams of light to remove unwanted, damaged skin in a very precise manner, one layer at a time. Most resurfacing treatments use a fractional ablative laser. This means pinpoint light beams target the skin while leaving surrounding tissue undamaged. This results in less downtime.

The laser beam used in laser resurfacing will remove your outer layer of skin, called the epidermis. At the same time, it heats the underlying skin, called the dermis. This stimulates new collagen growth. As the treated area heals, the new skin that forms is smoother and firmer.

Laser skin resurfacing is effective for shrinking pores, reducing wrinkles, minimizing the appearance of scars, and improving skin discoloration.

Laser Skin Tightening

Laser skin tightening treatments use infrared energy to penetrate deep into the skin, heating collagen to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This, in turn, generates new, healthy collagen and helps create firmer skin. This procedure can be used on all skin types with excellent results and requires virtually no downtime. It typically takes a series of treatments to produce the desired results. For patients with mild skin laxity, laser skin tightening is an effective alternative to surgical procedures such as a facelift or tummy tuck.

IPL

Unlike laser skin treatments that use a single laser wavelength to precisely target the skin, intense pulsed light (IPL) procedures use multiple wavelengths of light to improve the skin’s appearance. IPL treatments remove age spots, sun damage, freckles, birthmarks, varicose and spider veins, rosacea, and other blemishes.

What Happens During a Laser Skin Treatment?

Your laser experience is administered here in our Williamsville facility, and the length of your treatment depends on which areas of your skin you’d like to treat. Your practitioner prepares your skin and provides you with protective eyewear. He or she uses the laser handpiece to deliver pulses of laser energy to your skin. You may feel a warm or stinging sensation during this time.

What Is the Cost of a Laser Skin Treatment?

As you might imagine, the cost of laser skin resurfacing or laser skin tightening can vary from patient to patient based on the skin’s condition, the patient’s goals, and the area or areas treated. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your options and provide a specific price quote. Even though cost is important to most patients, it shouldn’t be the primary factor in determining your choice of a provider.

What Is Laser Treatment Recovery Like?

Your recovery experience depends in part on the type of laser used. In most cases, you can return to your normal activities immediately. If you undergo an aggressive laser skin resurfacing treatment, you may need a couple of days of recovery. In all cases it’s very important to avoid sun exposure while your skin heals. Some laser resurfacing patients require multiple treatments for optimal results.

In Buffalo, NY, there are multiple med spa options for laser treatments. We invite you to request a consultation using the online form or call WNY Plastic Surgery at (716) 634-5555 to book your visit.
