The Power of Hyaluronic Acid

At this point we’ve all heard about the hydrating ingredient in our skincare called hyaluronic acid (HA). But did you know that not all hyaluronic acid products are created equal? Lower molecular weights penetrate the skin more deeply and are thought to be more effective in reducing wrinkles and promoting elasticity. Higher molecular weights remain nearer to the surface, forming a hydrating barrier on the skin that helps prevent moisture loss and protects the dermis against external damages.

Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, which increases the skin’s ability to retain hydration, improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and aid in wound healing with anti-inflammatory properties. It is also beneficial to all skin types (yes – including acne!)
